Aquarius day......

My high school friend (Masumi)'s husband Aaron noticed that Billy and I have the same BD and happen to be Aquarius just like he, thus he decided we should get more Aquarius people to celebrate BDs together. I thought he was just saying it, but he actually organized this whole thing and got some of his friends who were born in Jan and Feb to have a dinner together. We ended up meeting some Japanese people, plus one Korean and one Swiss that night. Here are the photos from the Aquarius day....

We went to Rowland Heights for afternoon tea before the dinner. RJ doesn't seem to be as nice as before with their desserts and coffee, but the colorful pearl tea was kinda interesting.....

The dinner place was Peruvian. It's at La Mirada, a place I have never been to....The place specialize in seafood I guess, but then I don't think the food we ordered were good representations of seafood....We also ordered a pitcher of this corn drink which had cinnomon taste???

Billy and I ordered seafood fried rice, which tasted Chinese....

Jack was eating this steak which tasted kinda dry.....but I think he was more interested in eating the onions....and I took a photo of what Masumi ordered, which looked more like Mexican food..

BF of the Korean/Argentinian girl made the fruity cheese cake for us. It's very interesting cuz he put tofu in the cake....

Over all the dinner was fun I guess. Haven't really meet any strangers in a long time, and meeting some new friends from diff. countries for sure can be interesting at times....Didn't have a chance to take a photo of the Japanese girl Motoko's husband. I am sure there will be another chance when we check out his cafe place....We heard that he is a manager of this interesting cafe which we probably will check out in the future....:) Anyway....last photo the girls took together before we left, and that concludes the Aquarius day....

Our 2010 BD celebration break....day 1.....

Our BD this year fell on a Thursday. Billy wanted to take a day off but I told him to just take day off on Fri I don't have to move things around with my students. So....we just worked like normal and tried to celebrate a little at night. Here are the gifts we gave each other. Billy's gift was a leather jacket from Guess, and mine was a watch from swatch.

My two little students and their mom got us some sponge cakes for our BD....They were the only two students I taught that day, and they tried to behave as much as they could :)

Saw these at the bathroom when I got home....Those are what Billy got for me from Lush....Diff. bath balls that supposedly has diff. functions...

We went to Pasadena for dinner. at this place I found on yelp that we didn't have a chance to try yet. It's called Green Street Tavern and turned out to be quite nice with reasonable price....Here are the photos...

Nice feel at the place....cozy, classy, modern at the same time....

The soup we got.....lots of veggies in it, but I thought it was kinda salty....Billy liked it though....


Appetizer, it was an interesting salad with fillet mignon, cheese, spinach and some mushrooms....

Our entrees....My scallops are set on top of those egg custard tofu tasting circles. At the bottom there is a lot of veggies with dried bacon. Billy's was lamb shank which tasted with a tint of curry and also a little sweetness....

Photos the waitress took for us....I am glad at least one photo turned out to be nice....It's a drag having camera that normal people don't know how to use....

The desserts we got. I loved the bread pudding which is rarely found at restaurants nowadays....The creme brulee was just alright. They do use pretty nice fresh fruits though....

That concludes our celebration for 1st day.....cuz the celebration actually went on for 4 days....:p

Our 2010 BD celebration break....day 2....

Jack called on our BD to see if we wanted to eat with him, but since we had dinner planned already we had to postpone dinner with him to the 2nd day. We had an early dinner/ late lunch with him at Houston around 4-5pm. I think Houston is turning into this Japanese fusion steak house or something cuz it looked Japanese to me from the outside....



New England clam chowder....

This was very interesting....coconut shrimp sushi which tasted good...but in an American steak house??? some fusion we are talking about....

Steak Jack ordered....looks kinda small....but thick....

Hawaiian steak Billy and I shared....The funny thing is Billy noticed it tasted like those dry Pork Strips from TW, and I totally agreed....

We decided to eat our BD cakes the day after our BD cuz we were too full from BD meal the night before. Billy got cute small initial candles for our cakes and we burnt it all after we ate the cake. I wonder if that makes the wishes come true even better :) Anyway....that is about it for the 2nd day....

Our 2010 BD celebration break....day 3....

On Sat I don't remember what we did in the morning....but we found this nice cafe in Pasadena for our brunch. It's called Novel cafe and because we didn't plan to go at 1st I didn't bring my camera again...so...lousy resolution with the iphone again....The place felt like somewhere from the east coast I thought....I would go back just for the atmosphere I think....

Coffee is supposed to be famous at this cafe...but didn't really taste all that good unfortunately...

Billy's breakfast burrito and my French toasts with fresh strawberries....I am sure Ivan would love that.....and both of them actually tasted quite nice.....I only wish they would improve on the coffee....


I have no idea why Billy wanted to watch sunset at Hollywood but he was talking about it for few days. Finally we went on Sat, and it was quite a ride trying to get to the famous Hollywood sign. We were not able to get into the restricted area but we were able to at least see the sunset. We got to this ranch where you can ride horses and saw some people hiking around the area. I was worried we would not be able to see the sunset cuz we took two diff. routes trying to get right to the Hollywood sign.....but we made it just on time :)

We ate those for dinner in the car after the sunset....some kinda experience for in car picnic....lol.....

Traffic was bad at Hollywood so we decided to go to Kodak and take a walk there. Billy got to take a pic with the hot babe which is supposed to come from the new "interactive" wax museum....

and of course we had to have my favorite kinda puff...with the cookie crust....

and that kinda ends our 3rd day of BD break since we didn't do much at night :)
