Getting sentimental....

I was reading Ivan's blog this morning and clicked on the link he posted on Taiwan....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQqkKzxuQG8

I was never really a patriotic kid as Ivan, perhaps because I left TW way too early....but tears dropped down when I was looking at it. I guess I just can't help disliking China's oppression toward TW cuz I grew up in TW thinking it IS an independent country. People do have a choice to choose where they live and invest money.....(if you want you can move your whole family to China and nobody is gonna say a word about it)...but people certainly don't have a right to look over at something good that OTHER people developed and grab it to put in their own pockets. (Why the heck does China think they have the right to say Taiwan belongs to China? Why don't they just take Singapore or Indonesia? where majority of people are Chinese anyway?)

man....I guess I do have a Taiwanese root no matter what....China oriented thinking does tick me off big time no matter how I hide it....

I really think that video is meant to inspire people of Taiwan... to help people feel more united instead of continue to bicker amongst themselves... or feeling more pissed off!!! If you are feeling more hatred toward the Chinese, please let it go NOW!!! I command you as your husband... and I command you in the name of our Lord Jesus!!! ;)

Also, please do not confuse Communist China as the only Chinese. Being Chinese doesn't mean you have to communist.

I was born in Taiwan. I am Taiwanese. I'm also Chinese. I'm also American. To say that I'm not Taiwanese or not Chinese or not American, I'm only telling a lie. Taiwan does have a lot to be proud of. Just as Californian can be proud of themselves as part of United States.

I really don't care either way whether if Taiwan is part of China or a totally independent state in the future. Taiwan should just do whatever's best for the people of Taiwan.

If State of California wants to become independent, surely there'll be some kind of struggle against the Federal government. Are we willing to fight the Federal government for our independence? Are the Taiwanese people willing to fight?

Anyway, as for the Olympics, I think Taiwan athletes should just wear their uniforms with flags printed on them. This way, maybe the Chinese organizer can strip our athletes naked if they want. ;)

Taiwan is internationally known already. Taiwan's biggest enemy isn't really China, but the lousy politicians in Taiwan. USA has lousy politicians too of course... so in such adverse conditions, we ought to just continue to do what's right like Joseph! Also, instead of spend time getting mad at China, it's probably better to spend the time to pray for China and Taiwan!

Peace! :)

See this is how we are diff. I do not deny the fact that I am Chinese... but I was raised up in TW and will not consider myself from China. Even if someday I get an American passport I will not consider myself white. I don't have to hate people when they don't bother me. So if China is fine letting TW be it is right now I don't feel anything toward them. You cannot force an independent country to go back to the origin unless they want to. It's just like when a kid is independent, there is no point forcing him/her to stay attached unless he/she wants to. Politicians in TW now may be messed up, but the previous in control was more messed up by giving people false hope of getting mainland China back while it was impossible. There are not much we can do about it...but do you really think anyone wants to "unit" back to China other than the people who came directly from China and are probably gonna die within the next 20 years? I really don't believe in unity working all the time when the choice may be wrong....like I don't believe in making a bad choice and marrying someone you should not, and then at the end wish for everything to work out based on a bad choice. If China is already insulting everything we have in TW, then do you think they will try to treat us well once we are "united"? What kinda respect is that really?

Hello dear sister and Billy I'm Ivan
Long time no see ya,How are you ?
just expresses my opinion
Billy,I can understand that you don't care whether Taiwan is a part of China or a independent country.
but I care ,and almost Taiwanese care that.
You are not grew up in Taiwan , that's why you don't care
Like the American's country is USA not England but you can say that both American and British belong to the same race, speak the same language
even have the same culture.
Like you can say you are "worldian" becaus you born in the world but "world" isn't your country
No metter where we are
We are all Han(means Chinese)
That's why Taiwan can use "Chinese Taipei" as our baseball team name to join the Olympic
But we can't use "Taiwan,China" as the team name.
Because in practice we are the same race but different country
The same reason,it's impossible that USA rise the British flag on the top of White Hourse
The South America have 26 countries and only Brasil speaks portugues.
but the rest of them are different country each other.
um , just pray!
That's a true way to keep peace.
When jesus christ comes, All will be unimportant at all.

God bless you , hope you happy and healthy everyday:) Ivan

Ivan, I do care about Taiwan..., however, it's up to the people who live there to make the decision about Taiwan's future. Not me.

I disagree with people living outside of Taiwan to return 'home' to vote for president of whatever. If you are living outside of Taiwan, I think they should be excluded from voting! People should vote wherever they live!!!

So I hope you understand that I do care. However, I don't care which party is in control and I don't care if Taiwan later on becomes part of China or as an independent nation. I will love Taiwan just the same as before. I'd continue to love Taiwan whether if it's blue or green or purple or whatever! ;) Why? Because I was born and raised there. I lived there first 12 years of my life.

Taiwan is a name that cannot be erased by the Chinese. Even if 'reunited', it'd still be the province of Taiwan. And if it's indepences that Taiwan wants, first, I think it needs to develope it's military. Instead of throwing money at 3rd world nations, Taiwan need to develope weapons of their own... instead of buying 'junk' weapons from the US. Ideally, Taiwan should have a nuclear bomb. This is a sure ticket for international respect. Saddam Hussein didn't have it, that's why it got invaded. North Korea does have it, that's why US wouldn't mess with them.

Anyway, US fought against England to break free from their motherland. Taiwan may have to do the same.

If not by weapons, Taiwan needs to win the war against China economically. This day and age, money talks... when we are tied together financially, there'll be less incentive to wage wars against each other...

Anyway, this is a very complicated issue. Point is that I think the video your sister linked wants people of Taiwan to unite together. If people of Taiwan do NOT unite together as one, it'll surely fall later on. Problems on the inside need to be solved first..., then Taiwan can worry about problems from the outside(namely China).

Two Chinas' not going to go on forever. Personally, I think in another 100 years, people will be able to see more clearly about what to do. When the older generations pass away, there'll be a lot less hard feelings and people will be able to see more clearly what's the right thing to do.

Hi Billy,
That is to say
Anyway...

Ivan, I think the main problem with Taiwan is that we're just not "strong" enough yet. Not only is China pressuring us, even USA can also screw with us too!

I really think it was the Americans who wanted China to split in two. Just as Korea was split in two. Vietnam was split in two. Anyway, I believe this is simply their tactic to divide and conquer foreign nations so that the foreigners are not only less of a threat to them, but they can also make a profit by selling them weapons!!! It's a win/win situation for them.

Unity is usually a good idea. This is why even the European nations are trying to unite together with the new "Euro" currency system. Europeans also collaborated together to form Airbus in order to compete with Boeing. Unity can bring strength, that's for sure.

However, I do understand we shouldn't have unity at all cost. Unity is NOT always good. Sometimes it is bad to unite together if it's for the wrong cause. Biblically, supposedly the AntiChrist will be uniting the whole world! In the past, people also united together to build the tower of Babel, but God divided them up to humble them.

So there are times to unite... and there are also times we need to be split up for our own good.

Anyway, you are right, Taiwan is already an independent nation. The only problem is that we have 'China' as part of our national name. This is why it's a problem for UN to accept 2 Chinas I suppose. Continuing on as is right now is only a temporary solution. Sooner or later, Taiwan will drop 'China' in its name... or it'll later on officially become part of China. What'll happen to Taiwan in the future? I don't know.

In the past, China has even split into 3 kingdoms, right? Which of the 3 kingdoms were the real China? Or did China momentarily cease to exist when it was split into three?

Anyway, whatever..., I don't have all the answers and I don't have the solutions, but we can trust in God that He'll make all things work together for the benefit of those who love Him. If it'll benefit us to have an independent Taiwan, surely that's what'll happen. If it'll benefit us to have Taiwan be part of China, then surely that's what'll happen. Whatever happens, I'm still Taiwanese. I was born in Taiwan. I'm also Chinese. I cannot deny my roots. I'm also an American. I'm a naturalized American citizen.

May God bless Taiwan... and may God bless China and America too! :)
